Forest School, Horsham
Any project is a carefully choreographed exercise in timing and coordination to ensure the right trades are on site at the right time, carefully navigating one another to guarantee that the work is completed to the highest of standards within the agreed timeframes.
When that project takes place within a school environment, there is the additional need to carry out the work with as little disruption to the normal activity of the school community as possible.
That’s not a problem for the team at BRAC Projects.
When The Forest School in Horsham, West Sussex made the decision to switch to co-educational teaching from September 2021, several changes to the on-site facilities became necessary – not least of all in terms of washrooms and changing rooms.
With CBG Construction engaged as the main contractor to deliver the plans, BRAC Projects was quickly brought on board to focus on the toilets and changing rooms.
We delivered two gender neutral toilet facilities on two separate floors which were comprised of floor to ceiling cubicles, IPS back panels to the walls to conceal all services, and vanity unit wash stations. These were all manufactured in durable water-resistant solid grade laminate.
Running alongside this work, was also the total refurbishment of four changing rooms and shower areas for sports use. These were again completed in solid grade laminate and naturally included benching and wall pattresses with coat hooks added to all perimeter walls.
The completed look provides the students with modern, stylish facilities.
Importantly, whilst the aim originally was for work to be carried out over a 12-week period, BRAC Projects worked closely with all other trades to bring this work to a successful conclusion in six-weeks with everything wrapped up within the first couple of weeks of the new school year last September. Significantly, this meant minimal disruption to the newly enlarged school community.
