Issey Miyake

BRAC Projects were delighted to accept the task of manufacturing bespoke laminated storage and shelving units, drawer units and desking for the new Issey Miyake flagship store in the vicinity of Oxford Street central London.
With limited access restrictions within the building the required items had to be manufactured in such a way to be able to uplift into 4 separate floors.
What BRAC Projects produced
Multiple Drawer units varying in size from 600-1500mm wide.
All carcass units were off 30mm MDF construction finished with a smooth matt white spray-painted finish.
The drawer units were of a 12mm MDF with pre machined opening finished with 3 layers of paint with the final coat a gloss finish.
Each drawer front had an enclosed clear Perspex window to allow a clear view of the drawer contents.
Each unit had to be dry assembled to ensure all moving parts worked then taken apart.
Delivery
Once each item was delivered to the correct floor it was reassembled and glued together prior to being placed in position.
Large shelving units and desking had 2 sheets of birch ply bonded together with PVA glue to achieve required overall thickness and these were then laminated in the required laminate finish.
All elements had to be pre machined and dry assembled to achieve required finish. This was crucial particularly with the desking. As a finished size it was approximately 12m x 4m and assembled in 6 sections inclusive of correctly positioned cable grommet trays. These trays all had to correspond at fit to a mild steel frame with pre-positioned fixing points.
All exposed edges were then filled and sanded to remove any imperfections and finished with 2 coats of a white Osmo oil based finish.
