Toilet Cisterns – How do they Work?
One of the essential features of any business or establishment is its restrooms – this is because a bathroom should always be neat, tidy, and elegant in its finishings to give the best first impression. You may be wondering what your options are regarding your washroom refurbishment project or what style you should have – well, it all depends on the look and feel you want to go for, whether it be contemporary, modern, or neat and functional. That said, have a look down below at different toilet cisterns you can consider and how they work.
Close Coupled Cistern
This is one of the most popular options, seeing as they are very straightforward to install and can be ordered in a wide variety of styles depending on what your preferences are. A close-coupled toilet cistern means the water cistern sits above the toilet and is fitted to the wall and the toilet to the floor – this is also the most traditional style.
Back to Wall Cistern
A back-to-wall toilet cistern gives a different look than the close-coupled cistern, seeing as with this style, the cistern and all plumbing are hidden inside the wall behind the toilet. The toilet is then fully fitted and attached to the wall instead of the floor. This option gives a neater look due to the cistern being concealed out of sight and is also a more modern option if you’re looking for an up-styled washroom.
Wall Hung Cistern
A wall-hung cistern is a bit more challenging to install than traditional cisterns but is elegant in style and is the perfect solution if you only have a small space to work with. The wall-hung cistern, sometimes called an in-wall or hideaway cistern, also has the cistern concealed inside the wall and offers a sleek look for modern washroom cubicles. With this option, the toilet is also fitted to the wall and so hovers above the ground.
Low-level Toilet Cisterns
A low-level toilet cistern means the cisterns are fitted to the wall and are attached to the toilet with the flush pipe. This option is very popular for home use, mainly because it is an easy replacement without hassles. The cistern sits above and slightly behind the toilet, making for a comfortable and customizable placement of your choice. The low-level toilet cistern also makes it more manageable for you if you want to place the toilet in the corner. In contrast, it would be much more complicated with a close-coupled toilet because the cistern is directly attached to the toilet itself.
High-level Toilet Cisterns
With a high-level toilet cistern, the cistern sits much higher above the toilet and gives a very traditional look and feel to the bathroom. With the toilet fitted to the floor, the flush pipe leads up to the cistern, fitted to the wall closer to the ceiling. This is a very traditional option and works well if you have a separate toilet room.
When planning your vanity units, be sure to research all the options available to you before making a decision – this will ensure you are one hundred percent sure of your choice and won’t ever look back!
