Changes to Work Practices Lead to Staff Facility Upgrades

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on almost every aspect of modern life is well-documented and will, no doubt, remain a topic of much discussion for years to come.  The notion of ‘going back to normal’ is largely dismissed and long-lasting change is now accepted.

This is no less the case in the ways – and places – in which we work.  When the directive came to work from home if you could, it opened conversations around the pros and cons of office-based working.  For some, the opportunity to abandon the daily commute was appealing, whilst others longed for the camaraderie of working alongside colleagues.  Whichever side of the fence people fell on, a greater appreciation of the great outdoors, achieving better work/life balance and a desire to live more sustainably have combined to see employees choose to cycle, run or walk to work in numbers not seen before the pandemic.

As a result of this, some businesses and commercial property owners have given thought to the staff facilities that are needed to support workers as they navigate their way back to office-based working.

BRAC Projects was, therefore, delighted to be approached by MAP Interiors to work on a significant refurbishment project at a ten-storey central London office block, home to 500+ employees.

The work focused on the total refurbishment of the underground shower and changing facilities that had, at one time, been used as the building’s carpark.

Over a six-month period, we created discreet shower and changing facilities for both male and female employees, comprised of floor to ceiling showers with bespoke Corian® solid surface vanity units, hair drying stations and towel drop stations.

Additionally, we delivered a comprehensive suite of benches, shoe racks and coat hooks all manufactured by us in 13mm solid grade laminate to create a premium finish that would appeal to employees and in doing so, encourage them to cycle, run or walk to work assured of the best facilities awaiting them on their arrival.

So if you’re considering how you can make your commercial office space as appealing as possible to future tenants, you may wish to investigate the upgrades that you can make that will facilitate greener modes of commuting to work.
