Science Creates

Delivering contemporary design to science innovators
The traditional image of a school science lab where chipped and graffiti-clad wooden benches are surrounded with a mismatch of stools and storage cupboards, couldn’t be further from the reality of the Science Creates incubator facility in Bristol.
Here, BRAC Projects was responsible for the comprehensive fit-out of 16 laboratories which have since become home to an eclectic mix of science-based entrepreneurial businesses, all with an ambition to commercially scale-up.
Housed in a former stationery wholesale warehouse in the Old Market in Bristol City Centre, Science Creates has retrofitted the space to provide laboratories, offices, and a community outreach ‘learning lab’. BRAC Projects entered the development once the empty shell was ready to be fitted out and focused on the manufacture, supply and installation of a bespoke mix of furniture and storage across a range of laboratory sizes and configurations.
The finished result is anything but the image of a drab school science lab. Bright, light, and easy to care for, the 16 laboratories on offer to aspiring entrepreneurial scientists have each been fitted out to provide flexible work areas. Each lab boasts bespoke lab-grade workbenches, associated seating, and storage, all tailor-made to fit the exact space in which they’re located.
BRAC Projects’ wide mix of experience across both the commercial and public sectors – including extensive work in both education and healthcare – provided the team with the ability to deliver a truly customised solution fit for the intersection of science and business.
